PROJECT: easy peasy bike hanger

After a quick google search for DIY bike rack. This is what was made for about 20 American dollars.

Super simple.
One 2x4 (cut to fit)
One large lag screw
A couple of fence post caps
And two metal flip up bike holsters (these were this most expensive part of the project @ 5 bucks each.)

We used some rubber padding on the floor & ceiling for protection.

No holes in the wall or ceiling! All tension!!

PROJECT: elephant lamp

So I found this perfect lamp for the nursery from Jonathan Adler.
http://www.jonathanadler.com/Utopia-Elephant-Lamp/
Except it was $395 American dollars!

No way.

Then I saw this blog:

And realized I could make my own. With help from Jenn.

And here is our rendition:

Sculpted with clay by Jenn. I painted and assembled the rest.

Boom! $20 bucks and we now have a perfect little elephant lamp!

LOVE: scooters, motorbikes & elephants OH MY!

What more can baby boy ask for?

I used the Vespa tin sign and Finn and Emma's scooter theme bedding as my inspiration.

The paper lanterns were pretty easy to install. Couple of tea cup hooks and supplies from www.paperlanterns.com and BOOM! Stimulating night light!

The art gallery wall is still a work in progress.  Some of the items I've collected over the years:
Motorcycle Gas Tank Sculpture by Detroit artist, Chris Turner.
The scooter boy print, "the end is near," is from the last Niagara scooter rally I attended back in 2007.
ahhh. good times.
"Bike Life" from Fugscreen Studios.  A gift for baby boy from Aunt Erin and Uncle Dan!
He's even got a cool metal sculpture, two elephants rocking, from Aunt Becca!
And of course, the Deus print is just something I printed of the interwebs.  One day I'll get a "real" print.

Here's his growing library wall.  I'll probably continue it over to the joining wall.

We're still waiting on the recliner.  And a few other finishing touches.
More to come later!!

INSPIRATION: do what you love = live forever

Meet my buddy Seymour. At 79, he works 6 days a week wrenching on motorcycles. He decided to leave his architecture firm years ago to pursue his passion. Wrenching on BMW motorcycles.
Not only is he my mechanic. He's my friend and inspiration. I try to spend time with him every week to soak up some of that knowledge he has with beemers.
Thanks for being you Seymour.
